Roles, and what each gives an assistant
Every member of an organization has one role. A person’s assistant acts with exactly that person’s role: it can never do more than the person could.
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including renaming, handing over or deleting the organization. |
| Admin | Everything an owner can, except renaming, handing over or deleting the organization, and deciding which accounts it manages by email domain. |
| Member | What your access rules allow. By default: read the team’s space, and everything in their own space. |
Owners and admins can see and change everything in the organization, members’ own spaces included.
Your own roles
On the Roles & Groups tab you can add roles of your own, such as recruiter or finance, and
give people those roles when you invite them. A custom role gives nothing by itself; you decide what
it can reach with access rules. If your company signs in through its own identity
provider, the roles it assigns arrive here too.
Instructions for a role
Each role can carry instructions: text that every assistant of a person with that role receives whenever it opens the workspace. Use it for what that role should always know or always do:
- “Recruiters: check the client’s exclusions list before shortlisting anyone.”
- “Finance: never change a price list without a note saying why.”
Write them in plain language, as you would brief a new colleague. Open a role’s settings (the … beside it) on the Roles & Groups tab to edit them. The same page sets the role’s home page, the dashboard its people land on, and what they can open in the web app.
